Do you have concerns about our working conditions? What do you want to change?
Join us on Tuesday, February 20 from 5-8 p.m. (possibly ending earlier, based on discussion) for our Local 415 Demand-Set meeting. The meeting is the first stage in the 2024 CAAT-A collective bargaining process and will be offered both in person and online. Dinner will be provided for in-person attendees, and the Local will reimburse members who attend for up to 4 hours of child or family care costs. More details to follow.
In the meantime, we invite you to start thinking about what workplace issues you would like to prioritize this round. Every week leading up to the meeting, we will present you with an issue that members bring to us regularly.
Did you know that Algonquin College will not pay for professional fees that are a requirement of the job? For example, Nursing faculty are required to be members of the College of Nurses of Ontario to teach in program. In fact, on an annual basis, the college checks that nursing faculty are members in good standing with the organization. This is just one example of many. This needs to change so that all academic employees who are required to pay professional fees to work, do not incur this unfair expense.
Please watch your e-mail for more updates and details, including upcoming surveys about workload and working conditions.
