Over the past decade, we have seen a gradual move to online learning with this move being further exacerbated by the pandemic. Although there has been little argument from the employer that the move to online learning results in greater preparation time and other challenges for faculty, college management did not want to provide adequate time or resources to faculty during the pandemic to properly address the needs of our students.

In this video, we discuss the role of online learning in the public college system and how using it primarily as a means of efficiency, as college administrators are keen to do, undermines students’ learning needs. Bargaining will begin with the College Employer Council on July 7th, and we will be bargaining for better on behalf of all Ontario public college faculty members and students.
