Further to our last communique of 20 Nov 2018, the College has once again provided the faculty union local with a copy of the Partial Load Registry, which now contains 190 out of 332 deemed eligible for priority hiring versus the previously reported 120 names. However, the local has advised the college that they have not followed Arbitrator Kaplan’s mediation-arbitration award, Article 26.10 D, which in part states:
All partial-load employees employed for all or part of the period from
September 1 to December 31, 2017 will be deemed to have registered for the 2018-2019 academic year.
We will continue pursuing this matter to ensure that your rights under the Collective Agreement are upheld by the College.
Pembroke Campus Specific Update
We understand that there have been a great deal of mixed messages coming from the college with respect to contract faculty including the partial load registry.
Just yesterday, the HR rep for Pembroke was providing misinformation to non-full time faculty when asked about college decisions affecting them.
Last week, a message was sent out by steward Tracy Henderson encouraging people to contact her regarding issues affecting partial load faculty. Tracy is the lead contact for the local on issues affecting partial load members. In order to facilitate communication with folks at Pembroke, Tracy will be visiting Pembroke on Tuesday, Dec 4, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you have any questions for Tracy, here is her contact information:
