Please find attached the press release and open letter that went out this afternoon to Colleges Ontario and Minister Fullerton regarding the exclusion of faculty from the development of the free speech policy.

Our understanding is that all the colleges are planning to post the centrally-developed policy simultaneously on their websites on Monday, December 17, and it will likely be very problematic. When we see the actual final policy, we will post further response.

The fact that the colleges believe that it is acceptable to develop a free speech policy without any academic representation only highlights the urgent need to achieve collegial – or shared – governance provincially.
