Tomorrow’s Vote: a Message from Local 415 President

Starting tomorrow, faculty have an opportunity to vote on the employer’s offer. If that offer were fair, it would be my duty as union president to recommend it to you.

While the offer contains new and updated language, these changes do not enhance the union’s ability to support faculty members in key areas, like workload and partial-load job security. In fact, in some cases, the changes weaken our ability to support you.

A few weeks ago, I wrote an opinion piece published in the Ottawa Citizen, which you can find here. In that piece, I outlined some of the reasons why I will be rejecting the offer. In short, the only real certainty that this offer provides is that our employer will continue to erode our working conditions.

We have been so encouraged with your level of engagement over the last few weeks. As ever, I encourage you to continue to reach out with your questions.

In solidarity,

Annette Bouzi
President, OPSEU Local 415
