One thing that contract faculty are aware of is the precarious nature of work. Semester to semester, not knowing if you will get another contract contributes to a heavy burden of stress. Importantly, this is a phenomenon which spans North America, and which has received the attention of documentarians.

OPSEU Local 415 has secured access to the documentary, In Search of Professor Precarious. In this feature film, a long-time precarious contract instructor travels Canada to lift the curtain on higher education’s dirty little secret. We hear from faculty, students, administrators, activists and experts. We see artists in action, experience an outdoor biology class on the shores of Nova Scotia, fight alongside a group of Alberta sessional professors trying to make their faculty association more democratic, and watch as the biggest higher education strike in Canadian history unfolds.

Please watch this important documentary via the link here, or at the bottom of the screen. The link will function until October 29th, 2021.

Next, mark your calendar from 3-4 pm, next Wednesday, October 27 for a chance to talk to your union reps. During this hour, you’ll have a chance to hear about and discuss issues that are coming up. Join us on Zoom here, or via the link at the bottom of the screen.

As always, if you have any issues or questions, we are available by e-mail. Feel free to reach out by replying to this email, or at partialload@OPSEULocal415.org
