You will have seen recent announcements from the College indicating further program closures and suspensions. These decisions are occurring amid ongoing uncertainty and, for many faculty, raise understandable concerns about job security, workload, and academic integrity.

Your Union Local wants to be clear: faculty have enforceable rights under the Collective Agreement when programs are reduced, suspended, or closed. These rights include provisions related to notice, workload, displacement, recall, and consultation processes.

To ensure members are informed and supported, the Union is organizing a series of drop-in information sessions in the local office (located in A2032a-b). These sessions will outline:

  • What the Collective Agreement says about program closures and reductions
  • What rights faculty have when programs are cancelled or downsized
  • What the College is required to do before and after these decisions
  • How members can protect themselves and support their colleagues

Drop-In Session Details:

  • Tuesday, February 3 – 11am to 1pm
  • Monday, February 9 – 10am to 12pm
  • Wednesday, February 11 – 2pm to 4pm (hybrid option available. Please email comms@locallines.org to receive the Zoom meeting link)

These sessions are open to all faculty and are intended to provide clarity, answer questions, and ensure members understand both their individual and collective rights during this period.

We encourage you to attend, particularly if your program or area may be affected now or in the future. Solidarity and shared knowledge are essential at times like this.

  In solidarity,

Your Local 415 Leadership Team
Tracy Henderson, President
Judy Puritt, First Vice-President
Martin Lee, Second Vice-President
Shelley Robertson, Acting Lead Steward
Jordan Berard, Acting Secretary
Patrick Kostiw, Acting Treasurer
