Are you aware of how your Collective Agreement (CA) works during periods of College-led downsizing? Having a better understanding of the new 2024-27 CA during uncertain times is a first step. Questions about job security, workload, and academic integrity? Come get answers.
Your Union Local wants to be clear: faculty have enforceable rights under the CA when programs are reduced, suspended, or closed. These rights include provisions related to notice, workload, displacement, recall, and consultation processes.
To ensure you are informed and supported, the Union is organizing another round of information sessions in the local office (located in A2032a-b). These sessions will be about an hour long and outline:
- What the Collective Agreement says about program closures and reductions
- What rights faculty have when programs are cancelled or downsized
- What the College is required to do before and after these decisions
- How members can protect themselves and support their colleagues
Information Session Details (formal slide presentation will begin ~10 minutes after the start time):
- Monday, March 9 – 11am to 12pm (in-person A2032a-b)
- Tuesday, March 10 – 2pm to 3pm (in-person A2032a-b)
- Wednesday, March 11 – 3pm to 4pm (hybrid option available. Please email comms@locallines.org to receive the Zoom meeting link)
These sessions are open to all faculty and are intended to provide clarity, answer questions, and ensure members understand both their individual and collective rights during this period.
We encourage you to attend, particularly if your program or area may be affected now or in the future. Solidarity and shared knowledge are essential at times like this.
In solidarity,
Your Local 415 Leadership Team
