During this period of College-led downsizing, it is important to know that faculty have enforceable rights under the Collective Agreement (CA) when programs are reduced, suspended, or closed.

To help answer your questions about job security, workload, and academic integrity, and to provide you with a better understanding of how the new 2024-27 CA works during uncertain times, your Union Local is offering another round of information sessions focused on the parts of the CA that relate to notice of layoffs, workload, displacement, recall, and consultation processes (articles 27-29).

These sessions will be about an hour long and will outline:

  • What the Collective Agreement says about program closures and reductions
  • What rights faculty have when programs are cancelled or downsized
  • What the College is required to do before and after these decisions
  • How members can protect themselves and support their colleagues

Information Session Details (formal slide presentation will begin ~10 minutes after the start time):

  • Wednesday, March 25 – 1pm to 2pm (hybrid option available)
  • Monday, March 30 – 7pm to 8pm (online only)

Please email comms@locallines.org to request the Zoom meeting link.

These sessions are open to all faculty and are intended to provide clarity, answer questions, and ensure members understand both their individual and collective rights during this period.  Solidarity and shared knowledge are essential at times like this.

 In solidarity,

Your Local 415 Leadership Team
Tracy Henderson, President
Judy Puritt, First Vice-President
Martin Lee, Second Vice-President
Shelley Robertson, Acting Lead Steward
Jordan Berard, Acting Secretary
