November is half-way through, there’s a chill in the air, and assessments are ramping up as we turn our minds towards the end of the semester. Things may be busy, but we want to take a moment to remind you of some important issues for you as partial-load members.

Firstly, we wanted to remind you of the Partial-Load Hardship Fund. This fund is available to assist members who have found themselves without contracts temporarily or who may need emergency funds (up to $250 per member). You can apply for the fund here.

Secondly, we encourage you to review your current salary step placement.  When you are hired as a partial-load faculty, you go through a calculation to determine your pay rate as based on the relevant collective agreement grid. Occasionally, these step calculations are not conducted. We are available to assist you with any salary calculations and discussions, or simply, to explain how the process works.

Please also ensure that your colleagues are receiving these messages. Some folks have noted that our e-mails occasionally are filtered into “junk” folders.

As always, if you have any issues or questions, we are available by e-mail. Feel free to reach out by replying to this email or send a note to partialload@OPSEULocal415.org.

Yours,

Tracy Henderson and Martin Lee
